One Lovely Blog Award

I am very honored to be nominated for this award. 🙂 What a wonderful way to be recognized by fellow bloggers and to get to know each other a little better! I had a lot of fun writing this post and reading about other bloggers and hope that you might find this fun to read.

Thanks so much to Jen Li from GYPSYBUS28 for nominating me. Jen writes about her passion in life for many different things, including cooking, makeup, and traveling. I always enjoy reading her posts and her photos are fantastic. I’ve also been inspired to try cooking some delicious recipes after reading her posts! 🙂

The Rules:

  • Thank the person that nominated you and leave a link to their blog
  • Post about the award
  • Share seven facts about yourself
  • Nominate at most 15 people
  • Let your nominees know that they’ve been nominated

Seven facts about me:

  1. I have never camped before in my life. The closest was living in a pretty well stocked cabin. But, never in a tent. I go on lots of day hikes and some pretty rigorous ones, but I need to have the modern amenities. :0
  2. I am an extremely light sleeper. When my kids were babies, I almost never slept, waking up to their every movement and cry. I guess that probably explains why I can’t camp outdoors. (Can you imagine all the wild animal noises keeping me up all night?)
  3. I am grateful to be a mom of 4 kids, which includes a set of twins. They keep me busy and on my toes but I wouldn’t have it any other way. 🙂
  4. I don’t tolerate heat very well. In fact, my gym buddies know I have to grab the fan and put it close to me for intense workouts.  And I can’t run well in the heat. I love working out regardless, especially in class format. Maybe it’s because I am more motivated when I see others work out or when everything is choreographed to music, but my favorites include kickboxing, circuit sport, spinning, get pumped, and step class. I just have to have a good fan or powerful AC vent nearby 🙂
  5. I absolutely cannot stand clowns. I love gnomes in the garden and have a good little family of them, but not clowns. No thank you.  I still can’t figure out what makes me so creeped out about them…maybe something from childhood, or maybe a bad movie I watched but can’t remember. But remember when clown attacks were a fad around Halloween? I wasn’t sure if I would be punching one or running or both if I saw one. Let’s just say I was very, very prepared to take action.
  6. I cannot stand wearing socks in the house. I wear socks when I go outside, and even then I prefer sandals. The times I have worn socks in the house, I was so not used to them, I slid across the floor walking too fast.
  7. I’m a sucker for freebies and bargains. I love finding good stuff at garage and estate sales, and thrift stores. Maybe it’s because I love shabby chic and vintage decor, but I’m also a firm believer in save the environment and reuse/recycle when possible and also things aren’t made as well as before.

I’d like to nominate the following blogs for the award (in no particular order):

I hope you found this interesting and fun…thanks for reading! 🙂

  1. Tent camping is the ultimate outdoor thing to do. When you are ready let me know. I can show you lots of tent camping hacks. I guaranteed that you will be addicted to camping after your first time.

  2. I don’t camp either, lol. I’ve stayed in cabins but not tents, no thanks! And the quiet it’s a big part of that! I’m a pretty light sleeper, too, our kids would have cried all night as babies v if my husband were the one responsible, but I hear everything (which is a blessing and a curse). 😛 Thanks for the nomination and I’m looking forward to checking out the other blogs. 🙂

    1. Ah, you too?! 🙂 The inability to sleep through noise… makes sense as moms are so in tune with their kids…but it is like you mentioned a blessing and a curse. Tent camping is going to be quite an adventure! I think I may attempt tent camping at some point, but I will probably be prepared to pull an all nighter since I jump at every noise. (And I’m very wary/cautious about wildlife). I’m glad you will be checking out the other blogs…it’s quite fun to be able to find out interesting facts! 🙂

  3. Congratulations! Loved learning more about you! I’m with you on the clowns as well as liking vintage things. It’s so true that things are not made the way they used to be! It’s also funny that you don’t like wearing socks in the house! I actually can’t wear them at all unless they’re the thick fuzzy ones when my feet are terribly cold. Socks always make my feet feel like they’re being suffocated!

    1. Thanks! I loved writing this post because I get to learn about fellow bloggers too! 🙂 I’m glad I’m not the only one that likes vintage things and dislikes clowns! And the sock thing…I agree with you…as much as I can’t wear them, on a cold day, I like the extremely fuzzy ones with the grip control (so I don’t slip). Yesterday while running my marathon, I saw a couple of people run it barefoot!!!!:0 I wouldn’t go that far but am amazed by them!

      1. Wow, that’s awesome that you do marathons! 🙂 Yes, I’ve heard of barefoot running, super interesting. There are shoes now called earth runners which I’d love to try when hiking! Have you heard of them?

      2. I haven’t heard of them but I just looked them up. Pretty neat! I might need to consider this because my feet swell so much when I run for awhile. Interesting! I still don’t know how people run barefoot though…I always worry about all the stuff/glass/jagged things on the floor. :0

  4. These are great! No thank you to clowns too, …clowns freak me out. I think it’s from watching too many scary movies with evil clowns in them. Wow, a mom of four that has time to blog – impressive! Thanks for the nomination!

    1. This was so much fun to write and I love learning about fellow bloggers too 🙂 Yes, I think my fear of clowns come from scary movies (I can’t remember which one but I don’t really care to either :0). Some days it’s definitely a challenge to blog depending on what’s going on around here kid-wise, but I think it’s a good balance! 🙂 Congrats on your nomination!

    1. Definitely agree! I think there is definitely widespread clown phobia; I actually don’t know why people like clowns. And camping, I have yet to find out but I think it will be just like you accurately mentioned: under certain circumstances! 🙂 Congrats on the nomination…am enjoying your blog! 🙂
